Grayton Beach SP Hammock "Dissolving Earth and Sky" (large object QTVR)

The 2005 June solstice, full moon, and World Wide Panorama event came together for me in the act of creating this movie and performing a water ritual. The water comes from the Floridan aquifer deep under ground. I raised it, poured it into the bowl, spun around seeing that although it was passive and transparent, lens-like, it transmitted images and reflections of the surroundings. A hammock is an overarching dome of trees. The one on the Grayton Beach State Park nature trail is exquisitely beautiful, formed of trees that have withstood years of battering from the hurricanes and tropical storms from the Gulf of Mexico beach. Often people seek shelter from the heat or wind in this sanctuary. They recline in the trees, winding around the trunks.

As I poured, I asked that the water carry my blessing and best wishes for the watery base of Florida, bringing it into the photos. When done with the art work, I poured the water at the base of the sign, asking that it carry the message of this place, people, and park, connecting back to the root. Every time the movie spins, it reinforces this intention.

Alternate titles for the movie:

GPS 30.19.27.5N W86.09.08.9.

The sound on entry to the hammock was the steady drone of cicadas, which fell silent with the shrill whistle of the bird. The time was about when I set up the tripod, so perhaps that did it. Web pages describe the Rufus-Sided Towhee call as "drink your tea". But these birds just said "drink".

Text of the sign in the hammock:

PRAYER OF THE WOODS
"I AM THE HEAT OF YOUR HEARTH ON
COLD WINTER NIGHTS. THE FRIENDLY SHADE
SCREENING YOU FROM THE SUMMER SUN
AND MY FRUITS ARE REFRESHING DRAUGHTS
QUENCHING YOUR THIRST AS YOU JOURNEY ON"
"I AM THE BEAM THAT HOLDS YOUR HOUSE,
THE BOARD OF YOUR TABLE. THE BED ON WHICH
YOU LIE AND THE TIMBER THAT BUILDS
YOUR BOAT. I AM THE HANDLE OF YOUR HOE,
THE DOOR OF YOUR HOMESTEAD, THE WOOD OF
YOUR CRADLES, AND THE SHELL OF YOUR COFFIN.
I AM THE BREAD OF KINDNESS AND THE FLOWER
OF BEAUTY. YE WHO PASS BY,
LISTEN TO MY PRAYER:
HARM ME NOT"
