Eastern Lake, Walton county, Florida, is a coastal dune lake. As such, it has a meandering connecting channel through the beach to the Gulf of Mexico. It may be open or closed at any specific time. The engineering term is "outfall", which doesn't describe what happens when sea water flows into the lake, acting as an inlet. This seagull is between the lake body and the Gulf. The white beach is called "sugar sand" and is made of quartz crystals.
