These pictures are NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW, NNW, and N. To the E are the White Mountains. Along the crest and over on the Eastern slopes toward Nevada is the Bristlecone Forest. To the W are the Sierras. Looking NE is the Gunter launch of the paragliding competition and above that is the Bristlecone Medicine Wheel. Many of the peaks in the Sierra and White Mountains are almost 5,000 meters high, over 14,000 feet.
This airfield and surrounding Owens Valley is one of the windiest places to fly. Pilots come here for training to fly extreme wind conditions.
