June Solstice 2010

A Day of Silence and Meditation

On June 19, we offer a one-day silent meditation retreat honoring the solstice, which is on June 21, the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere of earth. Eight sitting meditation sessions are mixed with breaks, slow walks, an early morning beach walk, yoga, meals, and other activities. Guests attend all or part of the event. Hours are 6:15 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. See alignment chart and links (below).

6:15 a.m. Meditators arrive at Nancy's house; instructions given

 

6:30-7 Meditate

 

7-7:40 Walk slowly to beach and back

 

7:40-7:50 Break

 

7:50-8:20 Breakfast

 

8:20-8:30 Break

 

8:30-9 Meditate

 

9-9:10 Slow walk

 

9:10-9:40 Heart-opening exercises (led by Nancy)

 

9:40-10:10 Meditate

 

10:10-11:10 Yoga (led by Caroling)

 

11:10-11:20 Break

 

11:20-11:50 Meditate

 

11:50-12 Slow walk

 

12-12:40 Lunch

 

12:40-12:50 - Break

 

12:50-1:20 Meditate

 

1:20-1:50 Refreshing breathwalk (led by Caroling)

 

1:50-2 Break

 

2-2:30 Meditate

 

2:30-2:40 Slow walk

 

2:40-3 Free-form movement (led by Nancy)

 

3-3:30 Meditate

 

3:30-3:40 Slow walk

 

3:40-4:10 Tea and fruit

 

4:10-4:40 Meditate

 

4:40-4:50 Slow walk

 

4:50-5:00 Closing ceremony (led by Caroling and Nancy)
