March Equinox 2010 galactic alignment

Let's act out our position in the galaxy* at the time of the equinox. What is the equinox? Since we are tuning awareness to the galaxy, think globally. Earth spins on its N-S axis which is tipped away from the sun's axis, so during the year sun's rays differ. An exact moment each March is the vernal or spring equinox in the northern hemisphere of earth, while it is the autumnal or fall equinox for the southern hemisphere. However, at an equinox (in March and September), earth's equator crosses the sun's equator and somewhere along the earth's equator, the sun is directly overhead. Each has an equalizing and centering influence.

Picture a rough map of the galaxy looking down, as shown above. Flexy moves to a position in the north in the direction of the stars in the constellation Virgo. Mirror ball moves to the west toward the center of the galaxy in the constellation Sagittarius. Wires moves to the east toward the outer edge of the galaxy in Gemini. Rubber rays moves to the south in the constellation Pisces. Gold ball sun centers the four directions. Pool ball earth stands between sun and Virgo.

See earth's orbit around the sun, moving through Sagittarius in June, Pisces in September, and Gemini in December. Imagine the sun orbiting the center of the galaxy. From earth's point of view moving very slowly in the direction of Virgo. At the moment of the March equinox, we are in the most frontal position possible on our sun ride around the galaxy. Since everything is connected and all parts influence the whole, might some part of our being feel a slight boost?

How about the moon? In 2010 it circles between earth and sun less than a week before the equinox, when it is a new crescent moving toward Gemini. When the moon is full, it is away from the sun, roughly between earth and the stars ahead. The moon exerts a pull on earth, especially the oceans, that adds to the force of the sun's push near equinox. Could that be a reason why some celebrate ascension on Easter on the first Sunday after the full moon after the equinox? That's a convenient social delay. In our yoga we can align and attune to these positions daily.

How do we feel at the June solstice, when earth is closest to the center of the galaxy? Or in September when we follow sun? Or in December when we are farthest from the center of the galaxy? Will the Mayan calendar end of an era on the December solstice of 2012 have a perceptible effect? There will be two more March equinoxes before then, in 2011 and 2012. Think about 12 solstices and equinoxes.

* Disclaimer. Astronomers and astrologers differ on galactic studies. This is my best guess, but since I could be missing a lot, take only what you find of value. Discard the rest.
