Whirled exhibit

This is the initial introduction to the Whirled exhibit. The newer one is better, try it instead.

Whirled this way and that. What is a spiral to do? This page began as a preparation for entry to the Sacred Worlds project sponsored by the IQTVRA. As the spiral gained force it lost sight of that realm and is blowing where it listeth.

Consider this to be the setting for an exhibit. The inspiration is deeply rooted in Wholeo Online. Also, see the pages here as background, with text, graphics, slide shows, and links providing a much broader scope than the focus in the entry.

Not White Mountains

The basic idea is a sight-seeing trip to the real and imagined visions that have come to me centering in Owens Valley and the White Mountains in the eastern Sierra area of California, USA. I start on ground and end up flying, moving from literal reality, through the unfamiliar, to an expanded aerial view. This process is well-illustrated with an old Zen saying. "First there is a mountain. Then there is no mountain. Then there is." This is a poetic summary of the stages of enlightenment: before, during, and after. I use it as a metaphor for the process of change. Or how about an adventure, climbing a mountain?

First there is a mountain

You see the mountain. "What mountain" you say? Oh, that mountain, so what? We all see the mountain. Some have climbed it to the top. "I want to climb it now", you realize. What do you have to do?

This exhibit starts at an airport in a valley between two mountain ranges. Here are ways to access existing work for this part of the exhibit. It is being enhanced. First there is a mountain linked to the next movie. Bishop Air panorama, the original QuickTime VR (QTVR) presentation.

Then there is no mountain

You are climbing the mountain. The trail goes up and down, back and forth, and sometimes you can't even find the trail. In spite of all your preliminary thought and preparations for this trip, you have not thought of everything. No wonder. You have never done this before, never been here before, never experienced this part of yourself. If you are not actually lost, you feel lost. You have to accept your mistakes. One thing for sure, if you don't change and adapt successfully to the new conditions, you are in trouble.
