the newest version of the windows media player (which
now apparently handles .mov files) and the preferences automatically
overrode the QT player for .mov. What I noticed when I tried to see my own
QTVR site on his windows machine (through Internet Explorer) was a very
different controler bar (NOT QTVR or plain Quicktime) playing what looked
to something that resembled playing a TILE movie. Individual thin frames
played sideways in sequence once through then stopping. Then after about
15- 20 seconds (over a T-1 line) the low resolution preview pict file (I
assume from the streaming preview) opened sideways over the browser. This
distressed me very much since he has quicktime 3.01 on his machine and I
easily change the preferences, BUT you have to do it to
override the defaults.
